Dear Fellow Expat:
Greetings from Hunt Valley, Maryland, home of McCormick & Company (MKC) and air filled with the scent of pepper. It reminds me of my childhood, when my father – then an executive at the company – would return home, his suit drenched in the scent.
When we checked into the Embassy Suites, I signed an agreement to not have any parties in my room.
But after two nights (and only three people in this suite), I’m not sure they’ll believe me. It’s incredible how easy it is to make it look like you’re a rock band staying in a hotel room after two days. I think that’s mustard on the ceiling.
I’m writing to you from the Greene Turtle after I handed the housekeeping team $20 to take mercy on us. This restaurant sells an appetizer and unlimited $0.05 beers for $25.00. They haven’t met my friends, I guess.
