LUTHERVILLE, Md. — In what's being dubbed "The Miracle on Charmuth Road," the fourth-seeded Strawberries stunned the previously undefeated Blue Team 3-1 Sunday in the Lutherville Recreation U-7 Girls League semifinals.
The victory secures the Strawberries’ spot in next weekend's championship game.
Trailing 1-0 early, the Strawberries mounted a remarkable comeback, netting three unanswered goals over the final two periods to topple the tournament's top seed.
“I’m going to need a Xanax next week,” quipped one parent about the intensity of local Under 7 girls soccer playoff action.
The victory sets up a championship matchup against the winner of today's contest between the second-seeded Black team and sixth-seeded Green squad.
